Study of anharmonic phonons in thermoelectrics SnS and SnSe published in Nature Communications

September 30, 2020

Our study of anharmonic phonons in the thermoelectric compounds SnS and SnSe across their high-temperature phase transition was
published in Nature Communications. Our group mapped the phonon dispersions and lifetimes in crystals with inelastic neutron scattering and Raman measurements. Our group also performed anharmonic first-principles calculations that quantitatively accounted for the striking observation of the phonon collapse, and highlighted the importance of anharmonic renormalization effects for more accurate thermal conductivity predictions.
