Tyler Wilson

I am a 3rd year PhD student in the Department of Physics here at Duke. My research specialization is studying superionic conductors with inelastic scattering methods. Specifically, we rationalize the dynamics of mobile ions in solid state materials by comparing the correlation functions from simulations to experimental spectra. I am interested in understanding a modeling approach that uses a combination of the traditional phonon approach combined with parameterizations from machine learning to map the behavior of atoms for battery applications. I grew up in the North Georgia Mountains, living an hour away from the start of the famous Appalachian trail. I enjoy learning the German language, playing guitar, and working out in my free time.
